A Giant That Fell

You were a giant

I hate using were

Accepting the fact you are not here

Leaving our hearts on a smoldering fire

Knowing that you were a piece of furniture

This world needed to be ideally furnished

However, death is self-centered.

It had all of you to itself.

Lots of ideas lying dead in one cage

How could this be a reality

When we didn’t see it in a dream?

We were shocked at the break of dawn,

Knowing that early in the morning

You, a giant, plummeted to the ground.

And there was nothing you could do

To defy that dreadful foe

Who thought it was cool to take you

And take our smiles too.

Another piece of shocking news made our hearts flutter.

They are no longer able to open up.

By the mention of your name,

Pain holds a dagger

Stabbing us.

Our imaginations have grown wings

Our minds are exploring.

How you wandered without fear,

Acted without fear and said things without fear,

But, have all those fearless moments

Led to a journey with an incomplete path?

All those moments were like dead strands of hair.

You lost them before seeing them

This world is not our home

But, you are going home

With your head like a loaded magazine

Of an M16 rifle

Filled with bullets of ideas

Ready to take shots at life’s flaws

And pushing triggers to kill the ills

While taking cover at opportunities’ roofs,

You going home was not a situation to put us through.

How you fell; it’s afflicting

But when you dipped

My heart did break

Brabee, the giant you were, is the giant you will always be.

Continue to lead.
