Dear Politicians,
I pen this poem to inform you of my passion for education and civil servant advocacy.
Even though I support you, I have not forgotten your sense of dishonesty against humanity.
Listen! This poem is not intended to bully you.
But guess what, your phony actions towards me have grown my suspicion. Believing that you intend to use me like a condom, avoiding a pregnancy that you can’t handle.
Tears are rolling from my eyes as I write this poem. Because I still maintain the belief that you will use me and toss me in the toilet.
The irony is,
You have asked me oodles of times, to protest against the governing body.
This I believe is my democratic right – to assemble peacefully, and demand that the governing body acts well.
You have asked me to insult and bully those against your political ambitions.
But you have never asked me about my plans for the next 5 years. Honestly, I know you won’t because you intend to ruin my future.
That reminds me, didn’t you use my disenchantment to score a political goal? Acting like you meant well for me?
All this has to end; I mean now!
The community that embraced me with love, kindness and motivation, has turned into a cemetery for me. I shamefully walk through the corridors of my community, after insulting many who have regarded me; those who saw the future in my eyes and soul.
Guess what? In the end, I failed them! thinking that the “Amanda Awetu,” I sang behind you was to amend the Constitution – to give us rights as youth. To give us access to adequate education. To improve our welfare in our own country.
All I can say now is I am sorry. I am sorry to the ones I ignored and/or insulted thinking that was the solution. Will you even be able to look in my face and forgive me? That’s the question I have never found answers to.
Dear Youths,
Let’s reassess our ways and approaches towards elections and electors; the campaign will last for more or less three months, and the elections one day, but our brotherhood will last forever.
Let’s amalgamate peacefully, do what is right as citizens, and do away with insults and bullying against each other because of Politicians. They are the cause of problems in this nation.
I rest my pen!
