TLTG – The Love They Give

From the gate to the parking lot,

from the parking lot to the classes and then to the offices. Oh what an amazing environment!

Every morning my heart beats smoothly when I think about it.

I’ve found that place as a safe haven full of people who give me a reason to live,

a reason to work harder and a choice to make between what’s good and what’s bad, whatever the choices are, I make them, anyway.

Being at this place with these people is a blessing and an opportunity.

The consistency of their love, the elation of their hearts,

the pride in their eyes and the warmth of their embrace

makes me want to work harder every day.

The love, ideas, competitions and determinations make everything great.

Their presence comes like a touch of a magical rod that suddenly erases sadness from my face and restores my lost joy in a couple of milliseconds.

There’s not a day that I’m sad and they don’t make me smile.

No, not a day do they hesitate to wipe my tears when I cry.

Just the faces of a few make me laugh and the voices of them cool my heart. The support and love I get from them are more than riches.

These people are my inspiration and my motivation.

The experiences and ideas we share are amazing.

what a beautiful gift!

One cold morning I went to school depressed and tired,

not wanting to say a word or share a smile.

While entering the class, everyone else wore a smile and was full of fun and laughter; slowly, everything went away as I entered. They all walked to me shocked and suspicious. I felt a hand on my face, a rub on my back, my both hands were covered.

I felt warm and at home, I felt the love and affection.

The words they spoke made me smile even more.

As if she was my mother, a girl asked me

“Is there a problem more important than your smile, my child?”

Then another said, “leave her alone. Smile for me sis.”

Tell me if that Isn’t love.

On other days, they effortlessly support me, even in the pettiest of things.

I remember their unflinching support during a competition, even though I finished second. Their words of encouragement can be compared to the warmth a mother’s embrace. There are no greater words that would flow from my lips than words of appreciation of how grateful I am.

Those people find the success of others as a success for them too and that’s pretty much what this country needs; clear hearts, creative minds, and love.

They are the best Liberians I’ve ever met. One could find in them a mother, a child, a sister, a friend, a best friend, a player, a cheater, a teacher, a student, a hero or a villain; knowledgeable and experienced, doctors of minds and souls, children of good and bad, children of sun and moon, kids of experiences and lessons. Their future is beyond what the normal eyes can see.

It is a gift given to the world for enlightenment and prosperity. They are like the sun that conquers many planets, the success, and prosperity that awaits this nation Liberia.

These people are my classmates from St. Teresa’s Convent.
