Expectations

Mira: You hurt me when I did nothing but open my heart to you. You allowed me to trust you despite everything that they said about you. I trusted you with my heart and this is how you pay me?

Prolifix: You betrayed yourself. You never loved yourself. Wait, babe. I am not saying you’re stupid, but I’m asking you why didn’t you doubt me for a second? How could you be eager, without anxiety, knowing that I am human just like you? One who errs?

Mira: Love is what I gave you, trust is what you earned, value was what you never gave me. You took my pride and everything I had to offer but now am broken. HOW DARE YOU HURT ME?

Prolifix: What is your pride when you never prioritized it? What is love when you never loved yourself? Yes, I know I needed to earn your trust, but what is trust when you never trusted yourself? You offered me everything. I appreciate it. But why, sweetie, why didn’t you put yourself first?

Mira: So this is what I get, after all the damage you’ve caused? After you have left me with nothing but pains? Now I don’t love myself? You’ve turned to lecture me on how I was supposed to love you? Where were those lectures when you allowed me to trust and love you? When you knew where I came from and pretended to understand me?

Prolifix: I never said I never loved you, but from the beginning of our fairytale, you never believed it could be love. You called me names when I didn’t see your missed calls to call you back. You called me useless, completely disregarding my numerous uses to society. I never pretended to understand you because you never understood yourself. You rushed love like it was oxygen that you couldn’t live without.

Mira: You never had to say you loved me because you never did. The rest of the world and I are two different entities. You can’t treat me like you treat them, and that’s what you never understood. Pretence was written all over you, I just didn’t see it because of the fake love you showed me. You call love “fairytale” but it wasn’t no tale because we aren’t fairies. You are my lifetime Mistake.

Prolifix: Remember, Cherrypie, I knew “society” before I got to know you. My love was never fake. Your emotions were too hot, like it was intended to boil yam.

Mira: Speaking of emotions, I wish it was hot enough to destroy you and every lie you uttered. Society judged and criticized you, but I didn’t. I loved you unconditionally, but I should have known you were a heartbreaker.

Prolifix: “A heart well worth winning, and well won. A heart that, once won, goes through fire and water for the winner, and never changes, and is never daunted.”  (Charles Dickens)

Mira: You dare to speak about heart? Do you even know what that word means? Because to me you are a human that exists without a heart.

Prolifix: Says who? You are better than a box of chocolate. You are better than a bouquet of roses. How I adore you. There’s no past tense in loving someone. It’s either you always will or you never did. You can’t see the person that is meant for you if you won’t leave the wrong one behind.

Mira: It was my mistake. I only saw your mirage of “perfections” and I was blinded to the truth. You were human, a subpar one at that, not some sort of superhero. I could never accept you back in my heart, but I respect the fact that you served as a lesson for my journey in this life.
