A Poem in Pictures III

This work of poetry is a social experiment on how people interpret different forms of art (in this case images shot by Ligerian Optics, on Ceasar Beach, Margibi County). The images were shared with the collaboration authors to write a stanza to each image as they are led. We thought to share with you (our readers) how one thing can mean different things to different people. Hopefully, this gives you a deeper appreciation for other perspectives and the diversity of art.

As the world folds in on herself
Tying herself close
Normalcy is questioned
Structures of daily life fold
Safety is scarce, as solution comes as isolation

We might feel our eyes doubts too
We might turn away from the uncertainty;
Uncertain changes,
Uncertain things,
Uncertain feelings
These, however, are indefinite times
Indefinite schedules
Indefinite plans

As if feelings will succumb us
As if we can affect anything
But nothing has exactly changed.
The heaviness in the chest only moves to the stomach,
The heat in the veins, rise to the skin
The lump in the throat eventually falls through teeth as prayer

I’m holding on to so many prayers
Staying wishful with many aspirations
Like this heartbeat
Like this truth

Like the shadow of you,
My hope lingers.
