What would the ocean say if she could speak?
Would we hear her peaceful side?
The melodies of waves crashing against the shore?
The sizzle of the sun as it dips back into her?
Would we hear the giggles of children running along the shore, unaware of the mysteries of the deep?
What would the ocean say if she could speak?
Would we hear her wrath?
The wrath that drowns the screams of men
Would we hear the final prayers of kidnapped slaves?
The clanging of warships as cannon balls travel?
What would the ocean say if she could speak?
Would we hear her contempt?
Would we hear why she spits back the bloated bodies of unwanted visitors?
Or would we finally hear her tell us why she chooses to have mercy on some while the rest perish in her abyss?
