William P. Anderson studied Civil Engineering at the Stella Maris Polytechnic. William also pursued further studies in Hydro Power Plants Operations and Maintenance Routine in Zambia at the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Center. Among many others, he is the founder of the Practical Kids Preschool, an early childhood development Institution.

Dounard Bondo, Writer

Dounard has a B.Sc in international law and diplomacy from Babcock University, Nigeria and a masters of law (LLM) in international maritime law from Swansea University, UK. He has work experience in communications and worked for a couple of NGOs. Dounard is also a writer, poet, and spoken word artist. As a feminist, he believes in making a difference through his love for art.

Randell Zuleka Dauda, Contributing Writer

Randell is a Ph.D. student at Virginia Tech in Virginia, U.S.A., studying Planning, Governance, and Globalization. She worked in higher education in Liberia from 2015-2018. Randel is passionate about social justice issues and proudly identifies as a Headwrap Enthusiast and an Online-Storyteller. 

Valdemar Reeves was born and raised in Monrovia, Liberia. He recently graduated with a BSC in Economics and Business Administration from Edinboro University Pennsylvania. Valdemar plans to pursue an MBA in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship with goals of launching his own Non-profit Organization in Liberia.

girlchild is the pseudonym for a feminist who is aggrieved by the pervasive nature of misogyny in Liberia. Having lived in a patriarchal society, and experiencing first hand the harms caused by the social construct of gender roles, girlchild values gender equality, individuality and economic independence.

Beulah Nimene, Writer

Beulah Nimene, a writer and poet, is a freshman student at the Cuttington University reading Economics and Management. She currently holds the title of most eloquent speaker of the Liberia National High School Debate Tournament and she presently volunteers with Youth for Change( organizers of the Liberia National High School Debate Tournament). She is also the founder and co host of Youth and Society (shows on Light TV Satcom) as well as a member of team Liberia.

Darcess Dossen, Writer

Darcess is a graduate of the J.J.Roberts United Methodist School (2012 Valedictorian). He is currently a sophomore student at the University of Liberia where he studies Geology. Darcess is very passionate about writing and the expression of diverse ideas. As an active member of the Liberian Poet Society and an affiliate member of the Liberian Association of Writers, he uses writing to inspire and motivate his peers.

Shazo is a college working towards his professional educator degree. He is also an ASHOKA fellow and the co-founder of a charity organization. In addition to being a student, Shazo works part-time as a teacher and a project coordinator at Lupec, LLC. Writing has been the means of cajoling people out of depression and as he uses his words to positively elevate the minds of people, especially Liberians.

Fanoraine Dohr studied Sociology, Criminal Justice and Political Science at Temple University. She is interested in youth education, gender equality, and international politics. She is also a writer and a self-taught fashion designer.

Curtis is currently reading Public Administration at the United  Methodist University. He is also a stylist, a poet, and a beauty pageant consultant. Curtis considers himself a lover of music, a great dancer and prides himself on advocating for equality of all.

Ansumana Konneh, Writer

Ansumana Konneh is an afro-optimist and a Pan-Africanist with a deep passion for the teachings of Edward Wilmot Blyden, the Honorable Marcus Garvey, and Africa’s foremost independence fighter- Kwame Nkrumah. He studies Global Challenges (Governance) at the African Leadership, Rwanda and believes in a society of equal opportunities. He’s the Head of Secretariat of Kupambana Africa, a movement that seeks to provide Pan-African enlightenment in the context of a pure African consciousness, building education to young future leaders of Africa at the African Leadership University and other institutions of learning in Africa.

Emmanuel Trokon Johnson is a youth development worker. Through his passion to help his peers identify their talents and reach their full potentials, he has volunteered with many Organizations and is still volunteering with several L-NGOS and I-NGOS.

Gerald D. Hodges is an educational social intrapreneur and final year Development Management graduate student at the University for Development Studies, Ghana. As the Director for Programs at the NGO, SMART Liberia, he believes in a world where everyone flourishes and is committed to contributing to solutions that empower young people to fulfill their potential and fight poverty.

Cyrene is experienced professionally in international development areas of judicial reforms, institutional capacity building, and local participatory democracy, with a specialized academic background in European partnership management. Fascinated by the impact of positive digital engagement, she founded Talkay Media to connect young people through open dialogues on significant issues that are often overlooked.

Levi Martin, Writer

Levi is the Executive Assistant to the Minister of Public Works in Liberia. He studies Public Administration and Economics at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU). As a youth advocate and entrepreneur, Levi is the Co-founder and CEO of Liberia Events and Marketing Services (LEMS) located in Paynesville, Liberia. He is also a certificated Peace Building and Election Monitor as well as Project Manager.

Alplato Chukpue-Padmore, Writer

Alplato was born and raised in Liberia during the Liberian civil war. He began his educational journey at the University of Liberia and later relocated to the United States of America during the Ebola crisis.  Alplato recently graduated from the Kentucky State University where he studied Public Administration and Political Science and obtained the highest honor of  Summa Cum Laude. Alplato is currently earning his masters in Public Policy and Administration.

Elvis is 2017 SMART Liberia Fellow, poet and the Manager of Planning/Program at Liberian Poet Society. He has worked with work Youth Crime Watch of Liberia as Communications Officer for nearly two years now. As Communications Officer, he manages the institutions’ external and internal communications and co-lead the organization’s Gender Desk and Experience Liberia Program. He previously served as Pop Culture Columnist at Ducor Sports, an online outlet that reports on sports, entertainment and politics in Africa. He is a highly creative young leader who is passionate about youth development and educational reform in Liberia. Elvis is also the co-founder of Eco-Ship and an aspiring Mineral Law and Policy Expert.

Wainright Acquoi, Writer

Wainright is a social entrepreneur and Co-founder of TRIBE, an edutech social enterprise creating programs to prepare young Liberian students for the future of work. He is a current Watson Scholarstudying social entrepreneurship at the Watson Institute at Lynn University in Florida. He writes about youth economic developmentand social issues. Wainright loves to travel and take scary adventures that gives him a rush of adrenaline. He sings and think shower, he believes it is the most underrated invention.

Jeremy T. Karn is a poet & storyteller from Monrovia. His works had been published by Praxis Magazine, Odd Magazine, Kalahari Review, African Writer,  Nanty Greens, Eboquill and other places.

Fatu Kaba, Writer

Fatu is an emerging human rights advocate and a writer, who’s passionate about solving human rights issues using entrepreneurshipHealth and education especially with regards to women and children. She is currently studying global health, Peace, and Entrepreneurship, at Manchester University, Indiana, USA. She is a 2017 graduate of the Muslim Congress High School, a Lift Liberia Scholar at SMART Liberia, and an Alumna Ambassador of the Yale Young African Scholars Program.
